Chandelier Restoration
We repair and rewire chandeliers in any condition and all are tested and certificated prior to installation or delivery.
If you are thinking of asking us to restore a chandelier or piece of antique lighting please read the following sections carefully before contacting us.
Conversions can made from candle to electric and from gas to electric using the latest French technology.
Sympathetic candle lights are used which mimic real candle power, glass candle tubes are often used and card tubes can be painted any colour to match internal decor.
We have large stocks of antique glass which we can match generally to any chandelier or period fitting and also hold stocks of new glass which is sometimes used in sympathy with the old particularly on large fittings
We do not hold stocks of glass or fabric shades, but fabric shades for chandeliers can be made to order - please enquire.
Fitting
Chandeliers need careful fitting, usually site surveys are undertaken first and reports are made to specified local electricians if electrical modifications are necessary to the selected site.
Packing and crating chandeliers are additional to costs, chandeliers cannot just 'be delivered' or 'just collected', clients packing their own chandeliers for collection must be aware that the carriers (unless previously asked) will expect them to be boxed or crated which ever is applicable.
If sending chandeliers for restoration we can collect and pack if asked, however this request must be made prior to collection arrangements being agreed.
Where necessary scaffold towers are used to fit and discussions take place with clients about the length of chain and wether a sleeve is necessary. Winches -either manual or electric can be installed.
NDA is always on site during the fit and will ensure that the chandelier is perfect, supplied with bulbs and a duplicate set if necessary.
Fitting , crating and delivery costs are subject to vat at 17.5% and can never be included with the cost of the item purchased , antique lighting and other items are rated on the antique dealers margin scheme and invoiced separately.
Prices
Chandelier restoration @ £38.00 per hr + vat
Chandelier fitting @ £430.00 per day plus vat
Tower hire from £50.00 dependent on size plus vat
CHAINS, WINCHES, HOOK PLATES AND BULBS are additional costs and are not included with the light fittings, they also are plus vat
Site surveys @ £40.00 per hr plus traveling time. plus vat
PACKING & DELIVERY
Chandeliers and period lights can be sent directly by Steve Baldwin Carriers at a cost of £95.00 per journey plus crating/ packing please email us for details. (Rates for inside the M25 and Scotland by negotiation)
